Equation Keyboard

Horizontal luminous tube held by two vertical and parallel one-way mirror plates, supported by a raw concrete block.
Luminous tube held between two parallel vertical mirrored tinted glass plates, with the electrical cable of the tube hanging.
Horizontal luminous tube held by two vertical and parallel one-way mirror plates, creating a depth effect from a steel cap.
Multiple reflections in the mirrors create an illusion of a lighting space extending beyond the sculpture's physical limits.
The tube's light reflects in mirrors, evoking an endless tunnel of light, blending space and time perception inseparably.

Equation Keyboard

Equation Keyboard Description TEL

Equation Keyboard‘ is a sculpture by Fabien Ficher, part of the ‘Continuum‘ series. This series of works explores the concepts of space-time using architectural materials such as raw concrete, steel, mirror, and light. In this sculpture, two vertical and parallel one-way mirrors forms a corridor traversed horizontally by a luminous tube. This setup generates an infinite reflection of the tube on each reflective surface, creating an illusion of endless depth accentuated by the tube’s intense white light.

The concrete base not only maintains the parallel alignment of the panels, it weights the entire artwork. This solidity and ruggedness grounds the piece in a tangible reality, contrasting with the luminous and reflective elements that evoke dimensions of immateriality and evanescence. The one-way mirror panels, transparent on one side and reflective on the other, allow viewers to see through while capturing their own reflection and that of the environment, reinforcing the illusion of infinity and the continuity of space-time.

Equation Keyboard‘ invites contemplation on the fluidity and infinity of the universe, as well as the nature of perception and identity. The interplay between the concrete and the illusory prompts reflection on what is real and what is not, encapsulating the central theme of the « Continuum » series. It offers a sensory experience that encourages meditation on the very nature of the universe and our place within it.
